MCare - UX case study

Project Background

MCare is a cloud-based Electronic Health Record (EHR) and practice management system designed specifically for urgent care centers to streamline patient intake, charting, billing, and reporting. It offers doctors documentation, real-time insurance verification, e-prescribing, and integrated lab and radiology workflows to save time and enhance patient care.

Problem Statement

Doctors were overwhelmed by fragmented EHR workflows — too many clicks, too many screens, and too little focus on the patient. Manual documentation consumed up to 40% of a provider’s day, increasing burnout and reducing patient engagement.

Project Goal

To redesign EHR system into a streamlined, intuitive, and efficient experience that minimizes cognitive load, reduces data-entry time, and enables doctors to spend more time focusing on patient care.

Design Process

Gather insights

We started with client and SME interviews to understand business context. Then, through user observation and workflow shadowing, we captured real moments of frustration. These insights shaped our user journey map — a complete story of how doctors interact with EHR before, during, and after a consultation.

Impact

The redesigned EHR experience significantly improved clinical efficiency and reduced physician burnout. By integrating AI-assisted note-taking and streamlining navigation between visit summary and process notes, we transformed a multi-click, fragmented workflow into a single intuitive flow.
